ADMISSION AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Admission to the program is highly competitive and is based on an
application and audition process. Not every applicant will receive
an audition. Because students perform with the professional company
in the first year of training, the program most strongly considers
those candidates whose previous training and experience suggest
they are adequately prepared for advanced classical theatre training.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an
accredited and approved institution. International students are
welcome to apply to the MFA program; however they can not rely on
financial assistance or awards from USD and must provide for financial
support from non-university sources.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
All applications to The Globe Theatres/University of San Diego MFA
in Dramatic Arts program must submit the materials listed below
no later than January 15. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION EARLY
TO SECURE AN AUDITION.
1. Two (2) copies of the completed, signed application and personal
profile responses.
2. A nonrefundable $45 application fee payable to the University
of San Diego.
3. Two (2) current headshots and resumes.
4. Two (2) sets of official transcripts from all post-secondary
educational institutions attended (can be mailed separately - will
not delay application process).
Letters
of recommendation are not required.
If you auditioned last year, your
transcripts are the only thing still on file with USD. Please include
a note stating you auditioned last year with your application. If
it has been more than one year since you last auditioned, you must
resubmit your transcripts.
